Gideon Frank

Gideon Frank, joined as a member in 2008. He has been involved with research and development for the government and the business sectors, management and international nuclear policy and non-proliferation issues.

Mr. Frank obtained his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc. in Nuclear Sciences from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.

After joining the Israel Atomic Energy Commission he became (1970) the Director of the Research Reactor in Soreq Nuclear Research Center, afterwards assumed the position of Deputy General Manager for Engineering and Technology of the Soreq Center and from 1982 served as the General Manager of the Center.

Since 1990 he served in the Israel Atomic Energy headquarters first as the Deputy Director General and from 1993 until Sep. 2007 as the Director General of the IAEC. Mr. Frank's international experience includes designation as an Inspector in the Department of Safeguarde at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna, appointment as the Scientific Counselor to the Israel Embassy in Washington, participating in numerous different expert forums and representing Israel as head of delegation in international conferences.

Mr. Frank is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission.
